What it does

The Auro Hard Primer 127 is a solvent-free, breathable primer for subsequent coating with aqua paints. It forms a thin breathable film over the wooden surface. When being applied it’s appearance is milky but it dries transparent.

Why we love it

It is certified as safe for toys (DIN EN 71 Part 3) so perfectly suited to be used in Nurseries, cots, kids toys etc… It is made from natural occurring materials and minerals and is biocide free. It is easy to use and is highly effective.

This product is a vegan friendly and impressively it is fully compostable

It is milky when being applied but dries transparent with a thin breathable layer.

It can be recoated after 24 hours, plenty of ventilation should be allowed during the drying period as high humidity, low temperatures and insufficient air supply will slow down drying rates.

For poorly absorbing surfaces the Auro Hard Primer 127 can be thinned by using water up to a maximum of 20%

How to install

The Auro Hard Primer is for bare wood which does not contain active substances. It is applied thinly to bare timber by brush or roller. It can be thinned with a maximum 20% of water A very thin gloss film will have formed when dry. It should then get a light sanding before being overcoated with Auro Aqua products after 24 hours. The light sanding ensures a key is given for subsequent coats to stick to. The product will be dust dry after about 8 hours but should not be recoated until at least 24 hours after application. The coverage on the wood primer is approx. 14sq/m per litre.

Hint and tips

Tools should be cleaned with warm water and Auro Plant Soap 411 can be added. It can be a good idea to leave brushes soaking in water and a few drops of plant soap in storage. This will keep the bristles there best before being used the next time. If necessary Auro Orange Oil 191 can also be used to clean tools.
